best places for cycling in the UK - Cycle Fest / Experience Freedom

Are you an outdoorsy person? Sports lover? Or you just like spending a sunny day outside rather than in a restaurant, brunching? I’ve got you covered. In this post, I’ll tell you about some of the best places for cycling in the UK and provide you with some information about the best cycling events in the UK – Cycle Fest by Experience Freedom. Moreover, at the end of the post, you’ll have a chance to win the tickets to Cycle Fest! So let’s get started!

I started cycling when I was 5 years old. Back then I had a huge and heavy bike and my parents (who are avid fans of cycling), just wanted to teach me to cycle so I could go on cycling adventures with them. Learning how to cycle was pretty straightforward and easy and already after a couple of days I was pretty confident and could enjoy the activity.

21 years later, I’m living in London, working in a big corporation and cycling whenever I can (but not to work, it’s a bit terrifying given that I need to get from SE to North London and cross a couple of bridges, avenues and countless streets with relentless drivers.

So here’s to the best places for cycling in the UK:

1. Scotland

I lived in Scotland for almost 1.5 years and I honestly think that it’s one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Despite it’s weather that changes every 15 minutes and rains all year long, Scotland, in fact, is one of theist places for cycling in the UK.

If you’re planning to cycle in Scotland, consider these places:

* Highlands (the route from Edinburgh to Inverness or Loch Ness)
* Edinburgh & its surroundings
* Oban to Fort William

Road trip to Highlands Scotland in November - Glencoe,, Loch Lubnaig, Glenfinnan Viaduct and Ben Nevis

2. Lake District

Exploring Lake District by bike is probably the best way to see this extremely beautiful and impressive place. I didn’t have chance to cycle in Lake District myself, but all my friends who did, were genuinely impressed and liked it a lot.

3. Cotswolds

If you’re looking for a cycling spot closer to London than Scotland or Lake District, you can definitely consider Cotswolds with its beautiful picturesque villages and old traditional English houses. It’s possible to discover it by car as well (road trip to Cotswolds), but you won’t feel the atmosphere.

4. Cornwell

Cornwell is an absolutely amazing destination for both cycling and hiking, however, due to its remote location (more than 4 hours by train or 5 hours by car), it won’t be suitable for a weekend trip. However, if you’re fine taking a couple of days off or maybe involving a bank holiday, then that could be a great option for you.

5. Wales

Wales is an absolutely amazing place with beautiful natural parks and even small mountains and it’s really good for cycling. You can fly to Cardiff and save time on getting there and enjoy the rides and nature in Wales.

What is the Cycle Fest?

Cycle Fest is a series of events organised by Experience Freedom. Experience Freedom offers a wide variety of great outdoor activities like glamping, camping or cycling and accommodations like camping pods, yurts, motorhomes and some others.

The main event I’d like to tell you about is, however, the Cycle Fest, which aims to get people out on their bikes and have fun. It’s great for couples, families and group of friends, as cycling together is really fun. The Cycle Fest takes place in 3 locations (and each of the locations has 3 different routes, so don’t worry if you feel like you’re not fit enough):
* Scotland – Scottish Wanderer, Kelso (6th of May 2018)
* Wales – Welsh Wanderer, Monmouth (28th of August 2018)
* Yorkshire – National Wanderer (Sledmere, 27th of August)

To read more about the main event (e.g. price, schedule, accommodation, entertainment -there are plenty of shows, street food and even free activities) – the National Wanderer, follow this link.

And I have super exciting news for you – by leaving s comment at the end of this post, you’ll have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the National Wanderer Fest in Sledmere!

And here’s more, by entering any of the CycleFest rides, you’ll have a chance to win a 6-night holiday in France (Loire), which is totally amazing!
