If you’re reading this post, it means you’re interested in ways to save money for your travels. Many of you will know that Pepe and I enjoy a bit of comfort on our travels – something that can often be costly so we always look to be savvy with how we spend our money.

Most of our trips are long weekends in Europe, where we usually stay in more affordable hotels, eat out once or twice a day and walk a lot. We don’t always take tours and excursions, preferring to read about the city in advance and explore it later on our own. By doing this, we get to go on the trips we want, do the things we want to do and see the things we want to see.

For me, it’s just as important to find ways to be as savvy with your spending as it is with your travel choices. One of the ways I would recommend doing this is by using American Express Membership Rewards® Points.

How does it work and why is it so great?

What I like about the Amex cards that offer Membership Reward points is how easy it is to earn the points – basically each time you use your Card and on all those things you pay for every day. You can then use the Points you’ve collected to pay for nearly anything on your statement, from a coffee out with friends, or even some travel essentials such as a nice bag to use as hand luggage.

Planning a trip away sometimes takes time and dedication. With Membership Rewards Points you could get a takeaway while you plan with your travel companion and simply pay that expense off the bill.

Perhaps you want to buy a new outfit to wear while you’re away? Well if you have enough points, you could end up paying that off with your points too!
