What to do in Bellevue, Washington: Travel & Business

Hi guys, in this post I’ll tell you what to do in Bellevue, Washington and beyond. I have visited Bellevue on the business trip last year and had a bit of time to get familiar with the town (or city) and understand what is there to do and see in Bellevue, WA.

If some of you don’t know, plenty of companies are either headquartered or based in Bellevue, hence, Bellevue is a really nice and posh place (as the salaries in these companies aren’t precisely low). However, most of the people working in Bellevue aren’t actually living there, so the town becomes empty on the weekends. 

Many people visit Bellevue, WA on a business trip just like me and when I visited Bellevue, there was absolutely no information about things you can do there. So after talking with some of my local colleagues, a lot of walking around and exploring and researching things online, I came up with this list of what to do in Bellevue, Washington. So without further ado, let’s get started. 

Where to stay in Bellevue, WA?

If you’re wondering, where to stay in Bellevue, WA, I stayed in AC by Marriott for 6 days and it was a great stay. The hotel is nice and modern and the staff was super friendly and helpful as well. Some other options to consider: A cascade view B&B and W Bellevue.

So are some of the ideas for the things to do in Bellevue, Washington on travel or business

Go shopping in Bellevue

Some of you might not know, that Bellevue, Washington is actually a fabulous place for shopping! I mean, there are shopping malls on every corner and to be honest, I found shopping in Bellevue better than in Seattle. If you’re a bargain hunter and really like brands for cheap, you should definitely visit Nordstrom Rack, where you can get some really nice brands for a very low price. I went there on my last day in Bellevue and found quite a few things that I liked.

There’s also a Nike Factory store in the South of Bellevue close to Newcastle and I actually managed to buy my Nike Air max 2017 there.

Other shopping options include the Lincoln mall, of course, and Bellevue Square. At Bellevue Square, you can also find Macy’s – there are often some really good deals. If you’re not from the US and never been to Macy’s before, you might like to check it out.

Eat the best Dim Sum in Bellevue in Din Tai Fung

Even though Bellevue is a small city, there are plenty of nice restaurants you can visit there. One of them is the famous Dim Sum place called Din Tai Fung – it’s a chain that is famous worldwide. Din Tai Fung is definitely one of the best places to eat in Bellevue. To get a table there, you will probably have to wait a bit, but it’s definitely worth the wait. We waited for about 30 minutes or so, but the food was definitely worth the wait.

Visit Seattle

One of the most obvious things you can do when going on a business trip to Bellevue, WA is to visit Seattle. There are plenty of things you can do in Seattle and I have a separate blog post about it. If you’re wondering, how expensive is Seattle, check my other post about the prices in Seattle.

In order to see most of Seattle, you can take one of the tours e.g. City Highlights small group tour or Pike Place Market walking tour. 

Explore the Mt. Rainier National park nearby

It’s a bit hard to explore the Mt. Rainier National park without hiring a car. So you can either hire a car or book another tour, e.g. Mt. Rainier hiking tour – check the prices and the availability beforehand. The views are absolutely amazing, so I highly recommend visiting Mount Rainier. Please note that the tour starts from Seattle, so you either need to hop on a bus to Seattle or ask for an Uber.

Visit the Snoqualmie Falls

Another of the best things you can do in Bellevue, WA (or nearby) is visiting the Snoqualmie Falls. Again, you would need a car to see the waterfall. Alternatively, you can also book a tour from Seattle (check the prices and availability now) to explore one of the most beautiful nature spots in Washington.

Visit St. Helens National Monument

Another amazing nature spot near Bellevue and Seattle is St. Helens. Like in other cases, you just need to drive there or book a tour in case you don’t want to drive / can’t drive or are tired of driving. You can check the prices and availability here. 

Visit Canada

If you don’t need a visa to visit Canada and you would like to visit Vancouver, voila, all you need to do is just drive for 3 hours and you will be in Vancouver! There are so many things you can do in Vancouver and the foodie scene is also amazing there. I have never visited Canada (as of July 2019) and unfortunately, I need a separate visa to go there, so on this occasion, I wasn’t able to visit Vancouver, but some of my colleagues did and they loved it.

If you’re able to take a couple of days off after your business trip, you can totally spend them exploring Canada or beautiful Washington with its National parks and gorgeous nature.
